I like hers in particular, whether it as that she had worked hard in her life or that she too had wished for more, I couldn't say but there is a delicacy and more importantly an empathy in her rendition that I think is missing is most of the others.

I have long held admiration for the Pre Raph's and their Dark, yet romantic view of Legends and how they could eek out the wonderous and mythical in everyday activities.

I took some time this morning to start a line study of Anna's piece. I'll post the finished article when done.

Here's a snip.

I'm sure that I'm no different than anyone else in this but I get hit with new ideas all the time. By New idea's, I mean something new for me to try. These little seeds germinate into full fledged concepts and I get a burning itch to have a go at it.

Just as I get my teeth into it, another five seed sprout and dazzle me taking my attention away and the concept in hand suffers grossly. This only seems to effect my own projects! Frustrating!

Anyway, this morning another such seed, planted a week ago has budded and provoked me into action, so for as long as it holds my attention, here's what I was doing at 0600hrs today.

Many moons ago, I did a Helen of Troy illo. I liked getting the opportunity to work with a mythological/historical figure.

So much so, in fact, that I've been looking to revisit the character.

Here's the original:

And here's where I am with the new one:

So a commission I'm doing, Wonder Woman sat on Cap Americas' shield, is ready for inking now.

I'm looking forward to the inking phase but I'm one of those inkers who fire from the gut. I obviously weigh my line making decisions against years and years of experience but still, it's what feels right for that image and that always gives me butterflies. Because you have to admit, that regardless how good you are, you -could- still make a wrong choice.

Saying all that, it's not like it's permenant, you can white out and carry on, or start over! But then, it's always nice to Hit the Home-Run on the first bat;-)

Here's a peek at the pencils.

So I've been aware of Livejournal for quite a while but never really had the time or the gumption to look into it.

len doit batre le fer tandis cum il est chauz, one must strike the iron while it is hot.

So I chose not to provide myself with anymore excuses and just jump right in.
